Umida Akhmedova

A documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, and photographer

Umida Akhmedova graduated from VGIK’s cinematography department in 1986. As the first female cinematographer in Central Asia, she crafted over 20 films for Uzbekistan’s Film Studio of Documentary and Popular Science Films. Since 2003, she has been a cinematographer and co-writer of independent films in collaboration with Oleg Karpov. Alongside her filmmaking career, Umida is an accomplished photographer, participating in both domestic and international projects, and publishing captivating photo albums. Her solo exhibitions were held in Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Denmark, Spain, and other countries, earning numerous awards and accolades.
