Sérgio Tréfaut

Filmmaker and producer of French-Portuguese origin. After a master’s in philosophy at the Sorbonne, he began working in Lisbon as a journalist, director, and producer. He is one of the founders of DocLisboa and was its director for several years. His documentaries and fiction films have screened in more than 50 countries and won many awards, among them prizes from the Portuguese Film Academy, the Moscow International Film Festival, IndieLisboa, and the festivals in Biarritz and San Francisco. His latest fiction film, The Bride (2022), premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Treblinka (2016) and Paraíso (2021) had their Russian premieres at Message to Man.
