Mikhail Aldashin

Director, artist

Mikhail Aldashin is a director and an artist. He was born in 1958 in Tuapse. In 1987, he graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography as a production designer of narrative film. In 1989, he graduated from Higher Courses of Screenwriters and Directors as an animation director (studio of Eduard Nazarov, Yuri Norstein, Andrei Khrzhanovsky, and Fyodor Khitruk). Beginning in 1988, he worked as a director at Soyuzmultfilm, and then at various animation and film studios, including Pilot, TEKO, Mishka, and the Moscow Animation Project. From 1998-2002, he was the head director of PILOT Film Studio; from 2010-2014, he taught directing at the SHAR School/Studio. Since 2013, he has been the artistic director and then the creative producer of the rejuvenated Soyuzmultfilm. Since 2017, he has been a docent and the director of the Illustration and Animation track at the Insitute of Business and Design (Moscow). He has won the Nika and Golden Eagle awards several times, as well as many awards at prestigious international film festivals.
