Larisa Afonina was born on August 14, 1956. Graduated from the faculty of journalism of Leningrad state University (1979). Since 1971 — correspondent and head of departments of the newspaper Smena. Since 1990 — Deputy editor‐in‐chief in the newspaper Rush Hour. Since 2004 — editor‐in‐chief of Petersburg Rush Hour, then — General Director of Petersburg Rush Hour. Since 2006 — General Director of the information Agency Rosbalt. She headed and was a multiply member of the jury of the contest of journalistic skills Golden pen.
