Kirill Mikhanovsky

Born in Moscow, Kirill Mikhanovsky emigrated with his parents to the U.S. while still young. An anthropologist and linguist by education, he participated in the creation of student short films as an actor and cameraman. As a scriptwriter and director he has made four short films. His first short, Terra Terra, was immediately accepted for screening by numerous festivals, and his documentary Inhale, Exhale won the a prize at the annual Directors’ Guild of America awards in New York.
Fish Dreams – his first feature-length film – was presented in the Critics’ Week programme at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 and won a prize. His new picture Give Me Liberty was also screened at Cannes this year.
