His debut feature film “Court” (2014) was awarded the Best Film – Orizzonti and the Lion of the Future award at Venice. It has since gone on to win over thirty awards at film festivals worldwide, including the National Award for Best Feature Film. Chaitanya Tamhane’s second feature film, “The Disciple”, executive produced by Alfonso Cuarón, had its World Premiere at the 77th Venice Film Festival in competition. Where it was awarded the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay by the jury and the FIPRESCI Prize. The film also won the Amplify Voices award at Toronto and the Best Screenplay award at the Asian Film Awards. Chaitanya has served on the jury at some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, including Venice, BFI London, Toronto and many others. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
