Description
No one joins a cult thinking they are joining a cult. It begins with something that feels harmless: a retreat, a spiritual practice, a search for answers, a community of like-minded people. How can a dangerous cult emerge in the modern world? What makes intelligent, educated people surrender control of their lives to someone else’s beliefs? And how far are we ourselves from crossing that line? Sects. Under the spell of a cult explores the mechanisms of belief, belonging and manipulation — and asks a disturbing question: could any of us become the next person to fall under the spell?
