Synopsis:
Every day, a father and his son jump with a parachute from their vertiginous cold house attached to a cliff go to the village on the ground, far away, where they sell the ice they produce daily.

About the director:
João Gonzalez. A film director, animator, illustrator and a musician with classical training in piano. Born in 1996 in Porto, Portugal. He did a Masters at the Royal College Art in UK, after finishing his BA at Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design (ESMAD) in Portugal. In these institutions he made two multi-award winning films, “Nestor” and “The Voyager”.

About the director:
Carla Melo Gampert. Director, animator, visual artist. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia. She graduated from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and from the Film program at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires. Her graduate thesis, the animated short film “Por ahora un cuento”, had its international premiere at Annecy. She curates audiovisual exhibitions focusing on experimental animation. “La Perra” is her first professional animated short.

Description

Synopsis:
On a hot August afternoon, the family gathered at the table remembers uncle Botão: the Colonial War, emigration to France, where he lived and worked thirty years as a garbage man. Memories of each are crossed to tell the story of a man who lived a hard life through humor and fantasy, like when he returned to Belmonte, in a van full of trash, turned into a real treasure.

About the director:
Laura Gonçalves. Director, animator. In 2009 she finished the course Art and Multimedia at Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon. In 2012 she directs her first animation short “Three Weeks in December”, completing her Animation MA at Arts University Bournemouth. In 2016 she co-directs with Alexandra Ramires (Xà) the animation short “Drop by Drop” (Sophia Portuguese Film Academy award nomination in Best Short Film – Animated category).

Synopsis:
A young woman comes across animations on the Internet that have clearly been created from her private selfies. A stranger with the same name confesses to identity theft. But death is quicker than the answer to the question: “Why?”

About the director:
Stephen Vuillemin. The animation director, comic creator and illustrator was born in Besançon, France in 1986 His 2011 webcomic “Lycéennes” was recognised as a “novel use of animated gifs” by Cartoon Brew. He has also worked with companies like Chanel and The New York Times. Among his other works: the experimental video clip for Qoso, visual effects for Tim Miller’s “Deadpool”. From 2016 onwards, he made his first short animated film “A Kind of Testament”.

About the director:
Erik van Schaaik. A Dutch animator, screenwriter, film and television director, producer, production designer and composer. Born in 1968 in Maartensdijk, The Netherlands. During his study graphic design at the ArtEz – Academy of Art & Design in Arnhem Erik worked for Dutch television. After graduation Erik continued in the field of children’s television. For the big screen he created award winning animated short films “Vent” (2005), “The Phantom of the Cinema” (2008) and the stop-motion horror comedy “Under The Apple Tree” (2015).
