Synopsis:
Samet, a young art teacher, is finishing his fourth year of compulsory service in a remote village in Anatolia. After a turn of events he can hardly make sense of, he loses his hopes of escaping the grim life he seems to be stuck in. Will his encounter with Nuray, herself a teacher, help him overcome his angst?
About the director:
Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Director, screenwriter, cinematographer, producer. Laureate of the Palm d’Or (2014, for “Winter Sleep”), Asia Pacific Screen Awards laureate (in 2008, 2011 and 2014), winner of numerous awards at leading global film festivals. He was born in 1959 in Istanbul. He studied cinema at Mimar Sinan University, while becoming a professional photographer. Ceylan’ first short film “Koza” (1995) became the first Turkish short film selected for the Cannes.
