Leonid Mlechin

Leonid Mlechin is an acclaimed writer, scriptwriter and television presenter. He heads the Directorate of Historical and Journalistic Programming on Russian public television. Mlechin has written scripts for hundreds of historical films, mainly devoted to the political history of Russia. His historical explorations play an important role in understanding and comprehending Russian history.

The professional community has twice (in 2007 and 2009) awarded him with the TEFI prize for best documentary film script. In 2015 he was given the Special Prize by the Academy of Russian Television foundation for his “contribution to the development of Russian television.” In 2014 the Russian government awarded the TV programme Dokumentalnoye Kino Leonida Mlechina a media prize. An essayist, a master of political biography and historical research, Leonid Mlechin is also the author of many books.
