Description
Synopsis:
Alla Demidova’s portrait side by side with the sunken Atlantis of the Soviet cinema.
A fashion icon; an enigmatic heroine of Larisa Shepit’ko and Kira Muratova’s films; a star of the Taganka Theatre, Alla Demidova became an avatar of a whole era – even several eras: from the 60s to the “naughts”. She’s a mystery, a medium for other dimensions. But the film isn’t exactly about her; rather, it isn’t entirely about her. It is about time and her fight against it; about the titans that fate threw her way – Vladimir Vysotsky and Andrey Tarkovsky, Yuri Lyubimov and Anatoly Efros – it is about the lessons of her life. Lyubov’ Arkus’s new documentary is an investigation, an essay – a poem on a cracked, gone world.
