Description
After enduring three years of the Zero-COVID policy, the Chinese government suddenly relaxed its pandemic control measures in early 2023. The lives of many elderly individuals faded away before the onset of spring. Following the careful handling of the funeral arrangements for both parents, a young man decided to purchase fireworks for the imminent Spring Festival, despite the prohibition on igniting fireworks and firecrackers.

Wang Zhiyi
Director, cinematographer. He is a London Film School trained filmmaker. His first short film, Some Manifestations of the South, premiered at Clermont-Ferrand in 2021. Spring 23 is his second work.
