Description
At the age of 9, Dominic Ongwen is abducted by the Ugandan LRA, who train him to be a child soldier and place and him in a commanding role. Years later, he now faces the International Criminal Court (ICC), but should he be judged for his actions, or is he himself a victim?
About the directors:
Lukasz Konopa
Director, cinematographer. He has a Master Degree in Documentary Film Directing from the UK’s National Film and Television School (NFTS) and an MA in sociology from the University of Warsaw, Poland. His documentaries have been featured at festivals, such as Hot Docs, Camerimage, Visions du Reel and SXSW. His film After won the CILECT Best Documentary film award. Theatre of Violence is his first feature length documentary.
Emil Langballe
Director, cinematographer. He graduated from the National Film and Television School in London in 2013. His graduation film Beach Boy was awarded Best Short Documentary at Message to Man in 2014 and won prizes at Karlovy Vary, Thessaloniki, Tampere, HotDocs, and others. His feature film Q’s Barbershop (2019) received a Bodil, Denmark’s top film award.
