Description
A documentary blockbuster about a half-forgotten episode of the Cold War: Khrushchev banging his shoe, Black activists disrupting a UN Security Council meeting, Louis Armstrong sent to Africa to distract attention from the manoeuvres of the Belgian government and the CIA in Congo. All of this was part of the political intrigue surrounding valuable mineral deposits. The victim of these intrigues: Congo’s first prime minister, Patrice Lumumba.
* Nominated for an Academy Award; winner of the Special Jury Award at Sundance, Audience Award at Thessaloniki, among others.
