Description

Along the banks of Leningrad’s Obvodny Canal stand three asylums, three cultural centres, a theological academy, a military enlistment office, and a beer hall. The film, capturing a slice of life amid an era of change, weaves parallel layers of reality: its plots include an avant-garde performance by the “Derevo” theater, a “twins’ ball,” and a May Day concert in a mental hospital.
