Synopsis:
Not easy to be the son of his father. Especially in Hollywood. The eldest son of the great Kirk Douglas, it took him a long time to emancipate himself from his influence and emerge from his father’s shadow to forge his own stature as a star. With a rare tenacity, Michael Douglas led a double career as an actor and producer. For each of them, he won an Oscar. And yet, despite his successes, he suffered a lot of trials, alcohol, a chaotic private life, and cancer. By tracing his tormented life, this documentary intends to show how Michael, long considered the son of a monument of the cinema, became in turn a giant.
About the director:
Amine Mestari. Writer, director and scriptwriter. He studied ethnology in Strasbourg. He has co-written and directed several documentaries as well as a number of TV dramas. He has also written several scripts for feature films. Interested in new forms of digital writing, he is also involved in the creation of video games. His works include “The Breakdown of Artificial Intelligence” (2016), “Will Artificial Intelligence Overwhelm Us?” (2017), “Johnny Clegg, the White Zulu” (2019). He directed TV series “Once Upon a Time… Mustang” (2018).
