Description
In a narrow railway carriage people travel across the vast country. Outside its windows, villages, towns, cemeteries, forests and factories drift by. Inside, passengers drink tea, sleep and engage in endless conversations. The camera moves from one open-berth compartment to another, gradually turning the journey into a strange voyage with no obvious destination. Where does this route begin and end? Who is driving the train? And where is it going at all?

Viktor Semenyuk
Documentary director and one of the well-known figures of the Leningrad Studio of Documentary Film (LSDF). Born in 1940 in Vladivostok. He played an important part in the history of the Message to Man festival, and was involved in its structure and programming. His work addressed themes of memory and personal testimony.
