Ivan Selivanov is an artist, a representative of naïve art from the Kuzbass. He began to draw at the age of 40, after changing professions numer- ous times. Although he is well-known in the West, in Russia he has never sold a single picture, though his Self Portrait was included in the World Encyclopaedia of Naïve Art. Only at the end of his life did recognition come to him in his homeland — an individual exhibition, television programmes, articles in the papers.
