Description
Synopsis:
ALBANIAN TRILOGY. In 2015, Albanian artist, playwright and researcher Armando Lulaj created the Albanian Trilogy project for the Albanian National Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale. The exhibition, which included three films and many discovered items and documents, was a complex narrative about the traumatic past of the Balkan country in the past century. Lulaj refers to the times of the communist dictatorship under Enver Hoxha, focusing on the historical and political era that was extremely important for the emergence of the modern national identity. Boldly deconstructing propaganda myths, the artist creates three performances and documents them. The work, which is not devoid of irony and deep critical look, is a statement about the mechanism of power and the socializing myths of communism, and a view on global politics through the Albanian prism.
