Synopsis:
Vanya works as a salesman at the ‘Hunter and Fisherman’ shop. Kristina is a ballerina at the opera and ballet theatre. Kristina feels that Vanya is a real man. It seems to Vanya that Kristina is a real woman. In their shared quest to combat loneliness, they embark on a collaborative project: a ‘happy family’.
About the director:
Lyubov Mulmenko. Screenwriter, director. Born in the Urals. Earned a degree in philology from the Perm State University. In 2014 she debuted as a screenwriter with three films: “The Hope Factory”, “Another Year” (winner of the Big Screen competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival) and “Name Me”. She has published a book of short prose, Fun Stories of Panic. She continued her screenwriting career with “Fidelity”, “Compartment No. 6” (Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival) and “Unclenching the Fists” (winner of the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes). In 2021, she directed her debut feature film “The Danube”. “Frau” is her second directorial work.
