An exhausted delivery rider sprawled out on the bench of a roadside park and fell asleep, safe and sound. In 24/7 by Jonathan Crary, sleep was described as something rarely available in the contemporary capitalist society, and in China, at the forefront of global capitalism, sleep has become a costly risk for these mobile people.
About the director: Zheng Yuan lives and works in Beijing. In 2018, he participated in group shows OFFLINE BROWSER – Taiwan International Video Art Exhibition, at Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei; New Metallurgists at Julia Stoschek Collection, Düsseldorf; and Long March Project: Building Code Violations – Special Economic Zone at Times Museum, Guangzhou. His works are also screened at film festivals including the 65th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (2019) and 55th Ann Arbor Film Festival.
