A Tree Is Like a Man is an attempt to touch the otherworldly. Shot on 16mm film in the Colombian Amazon, the film bears witness to shaman Don William’s relationship to Ayahuasca and other medicinal plants native to the jungle. Set in the labyrinths of the tropical rainforest, this is a portrait that is at once intimate and spare, bringing us into close contact with an alternate reality, where the jungle, multiplying kaleidoscopically, transports us into a mystical space.
