Synopsis:
It is the year 1942. Gilles Cremieux, a Belgian of Jewish origin, is in a concentration camp, pretending to be Persian. For him, this is the only way to stay alive. This lie does save his life, but at what cost … German soldiers bring Gilles to Klaus Koch, a cook in the camp, who dreams of leaving for Iran after the war and opening a restaurant there. Koch is looking for a real Persian who will teach him to speak Farsi.
About the director:
Vadim Perelman made his directorial debut in 2003 with House of Sand and Fog. The film, starring Jennifer Connelly and Ben Kingsley, was nominated for three Academy Awards and also marks his first screenplay credit. His second feature The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) starred Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. He also established himself as an innovative director of commercials (his clients included Microsoft, Panasonic, Nike and Coors) as well as award-winning music videos. He also filmed the mini-series Ashes (2013) and Adultery (2015), and the feature Buy Me (2017).
