A documentary on the life, work, and achievements of the chess grandmaster and musician Mark Taimanov. His path in chess ran alongside his concert career in a piano duo with his wife, Lyubov Bruk. He achieved the highest honours in both of his pursuits, becoming a world-renowned chess player and musician. His legacy lives on today in the Taimanov Chess School, his books on chess theory, and the recordings made by the Bruk – Taimanov duo, one of which was released in a world series dedicated to the finest pianists of the 20th century.
About the director:

Grigory Ozhegov
Documentary filmmaker. Born in Leningrad in 1980. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at St. Petersburg State University, specialising in radio and television. As a director he has made more than 50 TV programmes and documentaries. A prizewinner and participant at trade festivals and contests in Russia and abroad. He also often works as a screenwriter and cinematographer.
