With an unacknowledged mental disorder, Adela seeks answers in popular rituals. She feels that something is watching and harming her, and only religion seems to understand her. During a visit to a healer, she confesses the disturbing origin of her suffering.

Bea Lema
Illustrator and comic book author. Her work is generally autobiographical, dealing with themes related to madness, trauma, family relationships, religion, and folk rituals. She explores drawing and embroidery as mediums for her illustrations and comics. For her first graphic novel, El Cuerpo De Cristo (2017) — an autobiographical project that addresses mental illness from a child’s perspective — she received the Castelao Comic Award. The animated film Corpus Christi is also Lema’s debut short film.
