A single day was enough to split Svetlana’s life into “before” and “after.” Her husband left, leaving her to face a new reality on her own. For a year and a half, the camera was in the hands of her eldest daughter. This candid documentary chronicle tells the story of how a woman and her loved ones learn to live a new life, grappling with their fears and discovering new strength.

Elizaveta Bobyleva
Filmmaker. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Perm State National Research University with a degree in journalism in 2022. She has taken part in the documentary filmmaking laboratories ‘DocResidence’ and ‘Vidimo. In Focus,’ as well as in the ‘ProCut’ workshop in 2024. Mother is her debut film.
