Description
Young Nika, a daughter in a Yamal nomadic family, is about to start school for the first time. She’ll soon be taken to a boarding school, separating her from her family and homeland for an extended period. In preparation, a nomadic teacher guides her through the transition.
About the directors:
Ivan Vlasov
Director, cinematographer. Born and raised in Tula. He studied at VGIK under Sergey Miroshnichenko. His film Edge(2022) won Best Cinematography at Flahertiana, and Wonderful World (2023) earned the Laurel Branch award and the Salt of the Earth documentary film festival prize.
Nikita Stashkevich
Film director. Born in 2000 in St. Petersburg. From 2017 he studied at the Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television and later at VGIK under Sergey Miroshnichenko from 2017 to 2023. His film Ski Track (2021) won the Laurel Branch award, and his Quartet (2023) earned the Grand Prix and a special jury prize at the Sol Zemli festival, as well as the Best Debut prize at the Russia documentary festival.
