Synopsis:
The documentary series tells the story of the new Russian cinema in the context of the events that changed Russia forever. The narrative is organized chronologically: from 1992, when a film was released with metadata indicating ‘Russia’ instead of ‘USSR’ as the country of origin for the first time, to the present day. Directors, actors, and producers share their memories of their journey in the Russian cinema. Among them are Fedor Bondarchuk, Gosha Kutsenko, Evgeny Tsyganov, Zhora Kryzhovnikov, Pyotr Buslov, Elena Lyadova, Vladimir Khotinenko, Valeria Gai Germanika, Sergey Selyanov, Yegor Konchalovsky, and many others as well.
About the director:
Nikita Kartsev. Director, producer, film critic. He was a film critic for over ten years before working in entertainment content on the STS channel for another five years. Since February 2023, he has served as the editor-in-chief of the Iskusstvo Kino magazine. Concurrently, he produced both independent web series like “Easy Round” and series for national broadcast, such as “Ready to Do Anything”. His directorial debut, the documentary short “Caution: People” was featured in the programme of Artdocfest/Online in 2023. The first episode of Cinema 3.0 premiered a week later in a special screening at the 45th Moscow International Film Festival.
