Natalya Dabizha is a director, screenwriter, animation artist and associate professor at VGIK. In 1967, she graduated from the theatrical art school with a degree in puppetry. She was winner of the Russian Nika Prize for Cinematographic Sciences (1995), the Grand Prix at the Croc Festival (1995), an Emmy Award (Los Angeles, 1996), the Grand Prix at the Japanese Festival, 2003), and Moscow awards (2004) as well as other prizes at Russian and foreign festivals.
As an animator she participated in the creation of more than 60 films, including: “Cheburashka”, “38 Parrots”, “Memorial Train”, “The Conflict”, “The Tempest”, “Winter’s Tale”, “Nozdrev”, “Colas Breugnon” and so on. As a director she has shot 11 films, among them are “The Barber of Seville”, “About the Fisherman and the Fish”, “Avraam”, and the series “Ferocious Bambr”.
At the moment, she is the head of the Department of Directing Animated Films and Computer Graphics at VGIK im. S.A. Gerasimova and supervises a student workshop. Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (1995).
