Synopsis:
Day in day out, life for the members of the Joy circus follows the same pattern: they give performances, dismantle and assemble the tent with its starry dome, move from place to place. The lynx and parrot trainers argue over the smallest things, and Valera the clown always performs alone… Until one day a new partner joins him, a female clown named Yana with whom he dreams of conquering the circus world.
About the director:
Born in St. Petersburg, Daria Slyusarenko graduated from a screenwriting course at the Moscow School of New Cinema. After working for several years as a screenwriter for TV and film, as well as a scriptwriter for Teatr.doc, she enrolled at Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov’s School of Documentary Film and Theatre and made her first film as a director.
