Synopsis:
Twenty-five-year-old Nikita has epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare uncurable genetic disorder which makes the skin very fragile. People like this are often called “butterflies”. In search for a way to stop the disease from progressing, Nikita and his girlfriend Lera meet famous biologists Alla and Vadim Zorin, who agree to conduct experimental therapy on Nikita.
About the director:
A photographer and photography teacher, Dmitry Lukyanov is a two-time winner of the “Silver Camera” Moscow photography award. Dmitry’s photographs have been exhibited in Russia and in Europe, selected for Russian and international festivals and won prestigious awards in different competitions. In 2019 he graduated from Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov’s School of Documentary Film and Theatre. Cells is his directorial debut.
