Synopsis:
Vitaly Akimov creates a film portrait of his family, who live in the dying Russian provincial town of Arsenyev. Vitaly’s 10-year-old stepson Stepan happily agrees to act as a guide in this grim world, consciously captured in black-and-white tones.
About the director:
Born in Arsenyev in the Russian Far East in 1996, Vitaly Akimov lived and worked in St. Petersburg from 2014 to 2019 but is now based in Moscow. He believes that the most important thing in documentary film is to find a scene that is true, original, then observe and wait, and leave the camera running when the decisive moment comes. A Boy is his debut film.
