"Message To Man"
In January 1989 the first Message to Man International Film Festival took place in Leningrad. This film, made during the festival, is a record of its events, guests and participants, such as the American director Leo Hurwitz, the Latvian director Ivars Seleckis, and the ballerina Natalya Makarova, among others. It also shows the “engine room” of the festival: the work of the main office and the PROKKa professional cinematographers’ club, guests being greeted and seen off.
"These Troubled Student Days"
The 1960s were marked all over the world by an explosion in student demonstrations, protests and strikes. There was also unrest among the ranks of Soviet students. It was not possible to cover this topic using material from the USSR, however — but using Western material it was. The film was shot in the United States, Germany, Sweden, and France, and foreign archive material was also used. The film features student unrest in Berkeley (U.S.), the leader of the student movement in Germany Rudi Dutschke, etc.
